It’s Fake News, Fubara’s CoS Denies Rumours Of Planning To Run For Governorship In Rivers

The Chief of Staff of the suspended Rivers State governor, Ehie Edison, has reportedly debunked claims that he was planning to run for governorship position in the state, with Dr. Adaeze Odili as the deputy.

His disclaimer was contained in a statement released on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, by his media office.

They described the allegation as a false, malicious tale, laughable, and baseless.

According to them, “our attention has been drawn to a false, laughable, and baseless story making the rounds, alleging that Rt Hon. Ehie Edison is planning to run for the position of Governor with Dr. Adaeze Odili as Deputy Governor.

“We want to state emphatically and categorically that this is nothing but fake news, carefully fabricated by the enemies of the state and killers of democracy, those who have consistently failed in their desperate bid to drag Rivers State into political chaos.”

The CoS media office emphasized that “this malicious tale is the handiwork of mischief-makers who are hell-bent on tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of Rt Hon. Ehie Edison, simply because he has refused to be part of their sinister agenda.

“These enemies of Rivers State are uncomfortable with his firm stand in defending the Government of His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the collective will of the good people of Rivers State.

“Their intention is to undo the government through the back door, but they have failed and will continue to fail.

“Ordinarily, we would not dignify these comic characters with a response, but for the sake of clarity and the unsuspecting members of the public, we are compelled to dislodge this falsehood and set the records straight.”

In reiterating his stands, they noted that “Rt Hon. Ehie Edison remains focused on his duties and committed to the progress and peace of Rivers State under the leadership of Governor Sim Fubara.

“We therefore urge the general public to ignore the faceless character behind the so-called ‘Port Harcourt Force,’ who derives joy in concocting and spreading lies. This individual or group does not mean well for our dear state and should not be taken seriously.”
