The Rivers State Police Command has arrested five suspected members of a “One Chance” syndicate operating in Port Harcourt, recovering their operational vehicle.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspects were apprehended on January 28, 2025, at about 9:00 AM by the Surveillance Patrol Team attached to the Hyper City Unit.
The arrest followed a distress call from a female resident of Federal Housing Estate, Trans-Amadi, who reported that her phone had been stolen by the occupants of a green Volkswagen Vento saloon car with registration number ‘ANAMBRA FGG 40 AA’.
Acting swiftly, the patrol team intercepted the vehicle along NLNG Road, Eastern Bypass, Port Harcourt, leading to the arrest of the following suspects:
Ifeanyi Ugo (male), 45 years, Paulina Ibe (female), 45 years, Nneka Precious Sunday (female), 30 years, Christopher Ibe (male), 31 years, Oyinyechi Ibe (female), 48 years.

The police confirmed that a preliminary investigation is ongoing, with the suspects and the recovered vehicle currently in custody.
The Rivers State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on “One Chance” operators—criminals who pose as commercial drivers to rob unsuspecting passengers.
