In a continued effort to fulfill his campaign promise of ensuring at least 18 hours of daily power supply across the state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved the installation of brand new transformers in several communities within Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, the home of the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Rt. Hon. Nyesom Wike.
Following the recent donation of a transformer to Rumuepirikom, the community of the F.C.T Minister, the Governor has now extended this gesture to the Ozuoba community, specifically the Majesty Estate axis. Residents in the area received a brand new 500 KVA transformer as a special New Year’s gift from the state government.

The Honourable Commissioner for Power, Prince Solomon Abel Eke, personally oversaw the delivery and installation of the transformer. He emphasized that this initiative stemmed from the genuine requests of the residents and the Governor’s commitment to improving the quality of life for all Rivers State citizens.Â
“Despite the fact that power distribution falls under the purview of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), Governor Fubara, recognizing the critical need for reliable power supply, has taken the initiative to address this issue directly,” Commissioner Eke stated. “The state government has covered the entire cost of the transformer and its installation.”
In another significant development, the Commissioner for Power also delivered a 500 KVA generator to the Warmate House Office Complex, which houses the offices of the Rivers State Primary Health Care Board and the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Program (RIVCHPP).
Dr. Vetty Agala, Acting Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Fubara for this timely intervention. “Adequate power supply is essential for the effective delivery of quality healthcare services,” Dr. Agala stated. “This generous gesture from the Governor will significantly enhance our ability to provide efficient and accessible healthcare to the people of Rivers State.”
These recent initiatives demonstrate Governor Fubara’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Rivers State residents. By investing in critical infrastructure such as power supply, the state government is laying the foundation for sustainable development and economic growth.Â
