“Deflated” Rivers United shifts focus to Eyimba

Portharcourt based football Club, Rivers United are set to move on from their ashes as they prepare to face the people’s Elephant Eyimba Fc of Aba Abia State in a Match day 34 super Sunday Clash of the Nigerian Premier Football League at Aba on Sunday June 2nd 2024.

The Pride of Rivers were deflated and disappointed as they crashed out of the Presidential Federation Cup at the hands of Akure’s Sunshine stars at Abuja during the weekend. This exit has diminished Rivers United’s hopes of continental football next season.

In the fixture with Sunshine Stars of Akure, the Pride of Rivers conceded in the 8th minute to Lucky Nwafor. The game was evenly contested until the 71st minute when Sunshine Stars’ shot stopper, David Ariyo denied Rivers United an equalizer from the spot.

Sunshine Stars maintained their winning margin till the 90th minute to advance to the next round of the Presidential Confederation cup.

Rivers United further said on social media platform X;
