Breath of life wins multiple awards at the AMVCA.

For the second consecutive time, a movie produced and distributed via a streaming platform secured the top honor at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

‘Breath of Life,’ an Amazon Prime Video Nigeria Original, received the prestigious award during the 10th edition of the AMVCA held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, last night.

The film, overseen by BB Sasore and Derin Adeyokunnu, claimed victory in multiple categories, with Sasore winning Best Director, Wale Ojo scooping Best Lead Actor, and Ademola Adedoyin and Genoveva Umeh clinching Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.

Kehinde Bankole, known for her remarkable performance in ‘Adire,’ took home the Best Lead Actress award for the second time at the AMVCA.

Despite its substantial budget, ‘The Black Book,’ a Netflix production, only managed to secure the Best Editing award, while ‘Mami Wata’ triumphed in the Best MakeUp category.

‘Jagun Jagun’ stood out by winning two categories: Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) for Femi Adebayo and Best Costume Design for Lola Awe.

The talented actor Chimezie Imo was honored with the Trailblazer Award, expressing gratitude and encouragement to his colleagues during his acceptance speech.

This year, the Industry Merit Award went to two esteemed figures: veteran actress Esther Idowu Philips (Iya Rainbow) and Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD).

Hosted by IK Osakioduwa, the 10th AMVCA was not only a celebration of film but also featured memorable musical performances by renowned artists such as Awilo Longomba, Shaffy Bello, Seyi Sodimu, Chike, Adekunle Gold, and KCee.
