Revamp our poor healthcare system – Omoku chiefs tell Fubara

By Brave Dickson

The chiefs of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have appealed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to revamp their healthcare system.

The chiefs made the appeal in view of the poor state of the healthcare system which they said has depleted the confidence of patients.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Secretary General of Omoku Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, Israel Okorie said, “Currently, Omoku has a poor healthcare system and the general hospital project which was initiated by the previous administration has remained uncompleted.

“We do not have a standard healthcare system in Omoku vis-a-vis ONELGA. The general hospital was abandoned and the contractor had left the site for close to a year. They have roofed the hospital but yet to be equipped.

Okorie added that the usefulness of the hospital is needed at this time when his people are being confronted with the risk of hydrocarbon hazards in the area.

He further included the schools in Omoku in his appeal to the governor as he was quoted as saying that, “the school structures are really going bad

“We are in the rainy season and the school environment is not conducive for learning at all. One can not even take a second look at our education facilities as the infrastructures are really fast decaying.”
