PDP Commends Magnus Abe for withdrawing petition at Election Tribunal

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has commended the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Rivers State Senator Magnus Abe for withdrawing from the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

Senator Magnus Abe had on 30th April 2023 during a press briefing in Port Harcourt announced his decision to withdraw his case at the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

The Former Federal Legislator during the briefing said that his decision to withdraw his petition is for the overall best interest of Rivers State.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State while reacting to the decision of the SDP Governor to withdraw his petition at the Election Tribunal said the move is a welcomed development.

The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Rivers State, Sydney Gbara gave the commendation while speaking with our correspondent in Port Harcourt.

Sydney Gbara said the decision of Senator MAGNUS ABE to withdraw his petition was in the interest of peace, progress, and unity of the state.

”We as a party, see the withdrawal of Senator Magnus Abe’s petition from the Election Tribunal as a step in the right direction and not an act of cowardice but a true spirit of sportsmanship and a desire to allow the state to move forward. This act clearly shows that Senator Magnus Abe himself has seen there is no need for flogging dead horse, that Rivers people voted massively for Sim Fubara as their Governor. Therefore in the interest of the state has decided to throw in the towel and maybe join forces with Sim Fubara to give Rivers people the best that they deserve” he said.

The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Sydney Gbara further called on other governorship candidates in the state to emulate the positive decision of Senator Magnus Abe in other to move the state forward.

SDP support Group backs Abe’s decision to withdraw his petition
In the meantime, a Social Democratic Party SDP support group in Rivers State, the Rivers Voice of Freedom has thrown its weight behind the decision of Senator Magnus Abe to withdraw his petitions before the Rivers State Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.

The Rivers Voice of Freedom RVF made this known during a Press Briefing in Port Harcourt.

The briefing is coming barely 24 hours after the Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP in Rivers State Senator Magnus Abe decided to withdraw his case at the Election Tribunal

Speaking at the Press Briefing, the President General of Rivers Voice of Freedom, Dominic Dume-Kpugi expressed the trust of the group in the decision of Senator Magnus Abe to withdraw his petition and appealed to his supporters to remain steadfast with him.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of RVF, Dr Broun Ikuruyake, and the Legal Adviser, Barrister Stanley Orlu assured their supporters that Senator Abe’s decision is in the best interest of Rivers State.
They insisted that their unflinching support for him is genuine and appealed to other supporters of Magnus Abe to support his decision which is intended to move Rivers State forward.

South-South Youth Initiative faults Magnus Abe’s decision to withdraw his petition
In the meantime, a Youth Group in the Niger Delta Region, the South-South Youth Initiative has faulted the hasty decision of the SDP Governorship Candidate in Rivers State Senator Magnus Abe to withdraw his petition at the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal.

The President General of South-South Youth Initiative, Saviour Oscar-Imeabe argued that it was regrettable that Magnus Abe did not consider the interest of his supporters before taking such a weighty decision.

Saviour Oscar-Imeabe advised political supporters to evaluate politicians before giving their support.

The South-South Youth Leader, who doubles as President General of Ogoni Youth Development Initiative, urged followers not to support carrier politicians, whose lives depend solely on politics to survive at all times.
