No child died of measles in Abua-Odual – Council Chairman

The Chairman of Abua-Odual local government area, Daniel Daniel, says the report of measles outbreak which killed fifty children in Emago-Kugbo community of the council, is misleading and an act of mischief makers.

The Council Chairman in an interview with journalists insisted that no fifty children died from measle attack in Emago-Kugbo Community as alleged, noting the information is calculated propaganda by some opposition political parties in the area.

He further advised desperate politicians to learn how to manage information and make proper confirmation before engaging the media as such unverified information can not give them victory in the 2023 general election.

Daniel disclosed that he has directed medical experts to unravel the remote cause of the alleged measles outbreak in the Community while urging the media to visit the community in question and carry out findings on the information.

According to him, “The measles outbreak in Emago-kugbo Community Abua Odual local government area of Rivers was allegedly speculated by some mischief political candidates of opposition parties in the area as they are local politicians who placed their political trust on propaganda.

“The Council has given matching order to the media to visit the community to see and confirm the graves of the fifty children that were buried, identify the parents of the fifty children killed by the measle in Emago-kugbo Community.

“Am warning those who use medical problems to gain cheap political relevance and those who are in the habit of misinforming the public to desist from it.”

Recall that community leaders in Kugbo Clan in Abua-Odual Local Government Area had raised an alarm for urgent government intervention over the outbreak of measles said to have resulted in the death of 50 persons.
