INEC recieves over 300 PVCs discovered in Bayelsa forest

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa State has received over 300 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), and six Temporary Voters Cards (TVCs), reportedly found in a forest in the state.

It was gathered that the PVCs were discovered in a bag by the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service during their routine patrol.

Presenting the voters cards to the Administrative Secretary of the Commission, Engr. Okop Umobong, the Bayelsa State Commandant of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, Moses Okanu said the 320 voters cards were found in an uncompleted building in the forest along Elebele-AIT Road.

According to him, the hoodlums on sighting the men of his command who were on routine patrol escaped and abandoned the items.

Receiving the voters’ cards on behalf of the Bayelsa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Administrative Secretary of the Commission, Engr. Okop Umobong thanked the team for returning cards to the Commission.

Umobong said the cards will be handed over to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Alex Hart, assuring that the Commission would initiate an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the PVCs.

According to him, the investigation will determine whether the PVCs were abandoned in the process of printing or if they belong to genuine voters.
