Six arrested in connection to RSU murder case

The Rivers State Police Command said it arrested six persons in connection to the murder of a 400-level student of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt.

The deceased identified as Chimena Uzondu, an engineering student of the institution was shot point blank by assailants within the premises of Management Science faculty, where he had gone to eat.

The prime suspect, Suanu Nwilyaara, who has since been expelled by school authorities had allegedly shot Uzondu in a related cult attack.

However, the victim’s mother, Josephine Amaechi, has debunked claims that her son is a cultist, while noting that the gun found on him was planted.

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, has disclosed that six persons have been taken into custody and have so far provided the command with useful information, The Punch reports.

Omoni noted that investigations are still ongoing as he stressed that the gun recovered from the body of the victim was done in the presence of his relation, coutering the claims of the victim’s mother.

“We are saying that a locally-made pistol and some cartridges were found in his pubic region while undressing him before he was taken to the mortuary. The pistol was found in his pubic region in the presence of his brother.”
