A local Vigilante Group in OSPAC Elele community of Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State has appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike for support, considering the voluntary services they render in restoring peace in the Communities.

In an interview with our correspondent, OSPAC Commander Elele, Daniel Ifeanyi Wosa said the appeal became imperative following the level of hardship faced by members of the group, as they find it difficult fending for their families.

He noted that the presence of OSPAC has restored sanity in the communities, adding that the government’s encouragement will spur them to do more.

Wosa stressed that their services and efforts in protecting lives and properties in some Rivers communities that were known to be terrorized by cultist and hoodlums are not being appreciated and regarded.

According to him, OSPAC operatives are humans and deserve better treatment, while attributing the crimes being committed by some operatives of the vigilante group as a result of hunger.

He said little motivation from the state government will encourage them to work more effectively in ensuring better security in all communities of the state, in order to reduce crime and criminalities to the minimum.

The OSPAC Commander however said that some members of the group would have abandoned the job, if not for the little assistance being given occasionally by the Ikwerre local government Council.
