The internal conflicts between members of the ONELGA Security Peace and Advisory Council (OSPAC) have starting resulting into the killing of its members.

OSPAC is a vigilante group authorized by the locals to aggressively maintain peace in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, including neighbouring LGAs that need their services.

On Tuesday, our correspondent was reliably informed by a credible source regarding the killing of two OSPAC members in Egiland of ONELGA.

The deceased were identified as Silver Ewuocha from Erema Community and Amechi Ododo from Ogbogu Community respectively in ONELGA.

According to the source, Ewuocha met his untimely death while returning from a peace settlement meeting in Ogbogu Community.

The source said Ewuocha was ambushed and shot dead by his OSPAC colleagues. While Amechi was shot dead at another location same day by rivalry OSPAC vigilantes.

Speaking with our correspondent on the killing, the Secretary-General of OSPAC, Eze Gift Ohia said, “we have been having inter-conflicts that are becoming something else. Though we are working on ways to address them.”

“I will not give you details because we don’t want the media to carry it.”

When contacted for confirmation, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni said he was yet to get official report on the incident.

Another resident of ONELGA and Leader of the northerners in the area, Alhaji Mustapha condemned the incident, describing it as inhuman against humanity.
