APC NWC meet in Aso Rock over Obaseki, Oshiomhole tussle

Following Gov. Godwin Obaseki’s disqualification crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) both in Edo State and the party’s headquarters in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari may have summoned the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, at the State House.

The meeting which is underway is called to resolve the crisis rocking Edo, the home state of the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Recall that APC Screening Committee had last week disqualified the incumbent governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, from contesting in the primaries ahead of the governorship election in the state.

The committee said it discovered that the governor’s name on his NYSC discharge certificate reads “Godwin Obasek” instead of Godwin Obaseki, and therefore recommended hin for disqualification.

APC Appeal Committee also uphold Obaseki’s disqualification even without the governor appealing the disqualification. There has been a frosty relationship between the governor and his estranged godfather Oshiomohole.
