Woman allegedly beat step-daughter to death in Port Harcourt

A wife of a soldier serving at the 6 Division of the Nigeria Army in Port Harcourt has been arrested for beating her 10-year-old stepdaughter to death for eating plantain bought by her father.

Sources said the woman beat her stepdaughter badly before female soldier ran into the house to intervene and save the groaning little girl, but she was ordered out after the angry mother put up a call to her husband who immediately ordered the female soldier to leave his apartment.

The sources claimed that the woman continued with beating after the female soldier left the apartment until the exhausted 10-year-old girl slumped and died.

The girl was rushed to a clinic after she slumped and was lifeless but doctors could not save her life.

Both the husband and wife are now in detention in the 6 Division of Army Barracks of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt Barracks.

When contacted, the public relations officer of the 6 division, Major Charles Okocha did not answer calls to his phone for comments on the matter.
