Ohanaeze issues 7-day ultimatum to police over murder of mechanic in Port Harcourt

As reactions continue to trail the murder of Chima Ikwunado by personnel of the Rivers State Police Command, Ohaneze Indigo, has given the Command of the police a seven-day ultimatum to bring to book, personnel who tortured the mechanic to death or face legal actions.

Felix Onwuma, the Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze Indigbo in Rivers State, in a statement on Tuesday in Port Harcourt called on the police to immediately release four other persons arrested alongside the late Ikwunado who are currently in jail.

Also, the apex Igbo cultural organisation asked the Police to release the over 30 persons illegally arrested during protests over Chima’s death on Monday.

Meanwhile, Motor spare parts dealers and Motor Mechanics in Ikokwu, Mile One, Diobu have issued a one-week ultimatum to the Police to provide those responsible for the murder of Chima Ikwunado or face a statewide peaceful protest.

Anthony Iwu, the Chairman of Ikokwu Motor Spare parts dealers association on Tuesday said they cannot continue to condone the unlawful arrests, detention, extortion and torturing of their members unchallenged.
