A literacy group called Abua Language Development & Literacy Society (ALDLS) has dedicated and launched the 1st holy bible in Abua Language.

The historic holy bible in Abua language was achieved through the proficiency of the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT), Jos, Nigeria.

While charging the people of Abua to take advantage of the fact that they now have a bible written in their mother tongue, the Director of Language and Programme, NBTT, Deacon Joseph Itumo urged the people to devote themselves to God.

He said: “The dedication of the bible in Abua language (Adinya Ligbia) is historic on its own because God has come down to declare His Word to the people in their mother tongue.

“Gone are the days of the ignorance of your forefathers who could neither embrace the Word of God nor give you the bible in your mother tongue.

“Now that you have the bible in your mother tongue, you are to take up your role for ownership.”

On his part, the Chairman of ALDLS, Deacon Reuben Arugu said: “The translators and reviewers worked with Rev. Gardner to bring together the translated Old and New Testaments into one document called The Adinya Ligbia (Abuan bible).

“Of the numerous persons who started the translation work, several persons dropped out. Some died and only two of the translators are alive to witness the arrival of the Adinya Ligbia (Abuan bible).

“We will now pursue the other aspects of our responsibility; namely to help the people to read, write and speak the Abua language correctly and we need the cooperation of everybody.”

Correspondent reports that the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Apostle (, Dr) Stanley Dimkpa who graced the occasion with other dignitaries urged all and sundry to support the project.
