NPFL: Rivers United Captain assures of victory in Kano

The Captain of Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt Festus Austine has assured fans of victory in match-day one fixture away to Kano Pillars of Kano on Sunday 3rd November 2019 at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL is expected to kick-off tomorrow across different venues after numerous postponements.

Festus Austine during a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt ahead of the Kano Pillars fixture said the team is very optimistic of getting the three maximum points in Kano due to their level of preparedness.

He said the team defeated Kano Pillars during the Ahlan pre-season tournament and is confident the team will repeat the feat on Sunday.

The Captain of Rivers United FC noted that the team will not disappoint the fans this season and appealed to their supporters to continue to give them their maximum support throughout the duration of the season.

In other fixtures in tomorrow’s NPFL games, Abia Warriors will be home to Katsina United, as Delta Force FC entertains Akwa Starlets in Asaba.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation NFF has issued a stern warning to match officials against acts and practices that could encourage match-fixing and match manipulation in the coming football season.

The Head of NFF Integrity Unit, Okey Obi, said it encourages match officials and other workers in football to recognize, resist and report any act that may seek to compromise the integrity of any football match during the season.

Okey Obi assured that the Federation would not hesitate to visit acts and practices that are capable of bringing the game to disrepute with the heaviest sanctions possible.
