A-Pro APC group, Vanguard for Change Agenda VACA has criticized the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government over what it described as, its failure to respond to the infrastructural needs of the people of the area.

The Spokesman of the group, Bright Peterside while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt said East-West road and the Oyigbo section of Aba Port Harcourt road are now death traps for motorists plying the roads.

Bright Peterside further said the current action of the Buhari led administration is capable of causing rancour between the South-South region and federal government.

He also advised the federal government to respond very quickly by addressing the infrastructural challenges in Niger Delta.

“It’s rather very unfortunate that, close to 5years of this very administration, the people of the region is yet to feel its direct impact, particularly in the area of basic infrastructure.

“Honestly Speaking, the FG of Nigeria has performed abysmally poor and, I say this with every sense of sincerity and civility with glaring indices to support our claim.

“Just take a look at the Port Harcourt-Oyigbo road and the snail pace of work on that very important road, for many years now. See the death trap Akpajo-Eleme bridge, it’s an eyesore, just to mention but a few. It’s very embarrassing to support a political party without any collective benefit for the people because politics is about governance and governance is about meeting the needs of the people through projects and programs that can enhance their living.

“Every time, you hear of Federal Government awarding construction of roads in other parts of the country and you begin to wonder, what happened to the South-South and Niger Delta region” he said.

Also speaking, the Coordinators forum of National Youth Council of Nigeria Rivers State chapter has lamented over the poor and deplorable state of the Akpajo-Onne trailer park axis of the East-West road.

The Chairman of the Coordinators Forum in Rivers State DIMKPA KINGSLEY said the poor state of the road has brought untold hardship to motorists plying the route.

DIMKPA KINGSLEY said the road contributes a reasonable percentage to the Nigerian economy given the facts that the road connects Port Harcourt Refinery, Indorama fertilizer plant and other companies in Onne.

He also asked to the federal government to include East-West road back in the roads to be reconstructed by the Buhari led administration.
