NSCDC deploys Agro-Allied Rangers to Rivers communities to protect farmers

Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers State Command, has inaugurated Agro-Allied Rangers team to secure all Agro-Allied investments in the state.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Muktar Lawal while inaugurating the team for the task, said the Agro-Allied Rangers teams are expected to provide security in rural areas where activities of hoodlums have hindered agricultural activities and growth.

According to him, the Agro-Allied team are officers carefully selected, trained and equipped to protect those sectors responsible for using cultural resources to produce consumer goods in the state.

“Having been mandated by the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu to inaugurate the Agro Allied Rangers Team in the state, the Teams are expected to ensure ranches, Silos, agricultural processing industries and other Agro allied infrastructures in the state are safe.

“They are also expected to mediate between farmers and herders. This is to ensure growth and progress in the agricultural sector”

He further said that adequate arrangements have been made to identify herdsmen settlements for security data collection in the state, and urged them to carry out their duties lawfully.
