Assembly Members visit Azuogu, Marihu and Obete Communities in Oyigbo after gunmen attack

The Member Representing Oyigbo at the Rivers State House of Assembly PROMISE NWANKWO says he will work with security agencies in Oyigbo to provide adequate security to the residents of Azuogu, Marihu and Obete communities following the recent attack on them by suspected hoodlums.

Promise Nwankwo said this during a condolence visit to the three communities alongside the Member representing Khana Constituency two at the Rivers State House of Assembly PRINCE MGBOR and some Chiefs of Lawri community in Khana.

He said that adequate security protection in the area will forestall re-occurrence of such attacks in the future.

Promise Nwankwo also said investigations revealed that the attackers of the three communities were not from Lawri community in Khana Local Government but hoodlums that are terrorizing the state.

In his comment, the Member Representing Khana Constituency two at the Rivers State House of Assembly PRINCE MGBOR, who came in the company of some Chiefs of Lawri community in Khana, said the incident was not a communal crisis but a cult related activities.

Prince Mgbor also condoled with the communities and appeal to them to continue to be peace abiding citizens.

He said Governor Nyesom Wike has swung into action by ordering security operatives to provide adequate surveillance across the communities and Ogoni communities.

Prince Mgbor also appealed to the residents of Oyigbo not to take laws into their hands as the government and security operatives are on top of the matter.

The Secretary of the Oyigbo Local Government Area Godson Nwachukwu, who represented the Chairman of the council at the event said they are working round the clock to provide adequate security across the local government.

He assured the resident of Azuogu, Marihu and Obete communities of adequate protection of lives and properties.

However, the residents of the three Azuogu, Marihu, and Obete communities during the visit called on the government to increase security presence in the area by building a police post.
