6 Division Port Harcourt calls for public support

The 6 Division Nigeria Army Headquarter, Port Harcourt has called on well-meaning Nigerians to assist the Army in its little way as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division and Land Component Commander JTF Operation Delta Safe, MAJOR GENERAL JAMIL SARHAM made this known during the commissioning of renovated Block 93, at the Port Harcourt Barrack donated by Ejovi Dredging and Marine Services Limited.

The GOC commended the managing director of the company, adding that the project will go a long way in alleviating the challenges faced by troops and their families and called for similar partnership with philanthropists to extend similar projects within the Barracks communities.

The 6 Division GOC said, ” I wish to on behalf of Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai, Officers, men and family members of 6 Division thank you for this laudable gesture as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility. No doubt, this project will go a long way in alleviating the challenges faced by troops and their families, and for that, we say a big Thank you. 

“May I also use this opportunity to extend the Division’s hands of partnership to philanthropists and other None Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) to as part of their corporate social responsibility extend similar projects within the Barracks communities”.

He added that “this reciprocal gesture will give succour to the families of soldiers that work daily to make your business environment conducive”.

In his speech, the managing director of Ejovi Dredging and Marine Services Limited, CHIEF OGENEGAREN EJOVI said as part of the cooperate social responsibilities of the company, it deems it fit to renovate the quarter in other for the soldiers to work diligently, urging the beneficiaries of the project to ensure they make good use of it and called on Nigerians to emulate the gesture.

Chief Ejovi in his words said, “May I, first of all, give gratitude to Almighty God who gave me the opportunity to come up with the idea of renovating this block for the Army which I feel will put a smile on the faces of the beneficiaries. This was borne out of my personal conviction and feelings that the Army should be appreciated for the great works they do”.

“Today, it is no longer news that the Army is in every part of our country curtailing different security challenges ranging from terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and pipeline vandalism amongst others. This is to ensure that we all sleep with our eyes closed. Though we cannot pay for these sacrifices, we can, however, support and appreciate the Army in our little way like we are witnessing today”. 

He further commended the GOC, “I want to most sincerely thank the GOC for magnanimously granting approval for me to contribute my small quota to the Army and 6 Division in particular. I also want to urge the beneficiaries of this project to ensure they make good use of it”. 

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with journalists, Mrs Ibuchi Andrew, Mrs Fatima Awalu and Mrs Fatima Jimi Godwin commended the donor and the Nigeria Army for the gesture.
