Upata youths petition Rivers Assembly over activities of NDPR

Youths of Upata Kingdom in Ahaoda East Local Government area have petitioned the Niger-Delta Petroleum Resources, NDPR before the Rivers State House of Assembly over activities of the company in the area.

The petitioner, Comrade Livingstone Alali who is the youth President of Upata Kingdom said in the petition that the people have benefitted little or nothing from the OML 54 being operated by NDPR.

The petition which was presented by the members representing Ahaoda East Constituency II, Edison Ehie, before the house, said NDPR have abandoned their responsibilities towards ensuring the development of their host Community.

The Speaker of the house, Ikunyi Owaji Igbani referred the petition to an ad hoc committee to be led by members representing Akuku Toru Constituency I, Major Jack.

The committee was also mandated to report back to the house after its findings.

Major Jack who promised to give a fair hearing to all parties said the committee will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the people get justice.
