Breaking: Police kill 3 gunmen in Port Harcourt.

Police in Rivers State, on Thursday, killed three suspected criminals terrorizing Rumuola and new GRA axis of Port Harcourt.

The officers following a tip off, tracked down the criminals around Salvation Ministries church, GRA and engaged them in a gunfight.

An eye witness who refused to be recorded told our correspondent that they heard gun shots around the church junction only to discover that the boys were killed inside a red Camry car at the center of the road with traces of bullets on it.

The eye witness also said one of the suspects who survived was taken away by the police personnel for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Command, Mr Nnamdi Omoni, DSP, has said that the Operatives of the Swift Operations Squad, acting on credible information, intercepted a three man armed robbery gang at Birabi in GRA PHASE 11, PH.

Omoni said the suspects had perfected plans to rob a new generation Bank.

He explained that on sighting the Police, they engaged them in a fierce gun duel and in a return fire, all three were fatally wounded and certified dead by a Medical Doctor.

He said that operatives who sustained gun shot wounds are receiving medical attention.

In the wake of the attack, the following Exhibits were recovered:
Two AK47 rifles
186 live Ammunition
8 Magazines
Charms and two Operational vehicles: Toyota Camry with Reg.no. VC 589 KJA and Toyota Corolla with Reg.no.ABC 385 RP.

He noted that the war against armed banditry in the State is still raging and we will stop at nothing until they are history.
