Police promise prompt action over manhandling of OAP by SARS.

The Rivers State Police command has cautioned its officers to always display professionalism in the discharge of their duty.

Police Public Relation Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, stated this on the heels of the unlawful detention and molestation of an On Air Personnel of a radio station in Port Harcourt.

According to him, if the police officers involved are found culpable after investigation they will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

“The command is aware of the incidence which occurred on Tuesday of the arrest and detention of Kofi Bartels of Nigeria info.

” At the end of the investigation, we will know if the act of the officers is justified. We have always told our officers to be professional and polite in dealing with citizens.

” A suspect is not supposed to be rough handled even when he has committed offence, so if the SARS officers is found culpable they will be dealt with”

Meanwhile, Kofi Bartels in his recount said he was bartered by the SARS officers, who threatened to deal with him.

He noted that he leapt out of the SARS Headquarters, as a result of the beaten and bartering he got from the officers for no just cause.

He stressed that his knee is seriously bruised and swollen, as the officers used wooden plank to hit his head, back, leg, face, ear and knees, adding that his life is under threat by the SARS officers.

According to our reporter Tina Amanda, Mr Bartels as at the time of this report is still on admission in an hospital receiving treatment.
