Court acquits alleged child-thieves over lack of evidence.

Prophet George Brown and Tina Tekebe have been discharged and acquitted of conspiracy and Child theft charges against them.

Prophet George Brown and Tina Tekebe, a nurse and who is said to be late, were accused of conspiring to steal the baby belonging to Mr Sunday Ibuo and his wife, Grace Sunday.

Prophet George Brown whose church is located at Rumuolumeni community in Obio-Akpor local government area is said to have prophesied to Grace Sunday that the baby in her womb was a toy, but she later gave birth to a baby girl that was sold same day of the delivery.

The Divisional Police officer in charge of Rumuolumeni division and his team were said to have arrested the nurse who led the operatives where the baby was recovered.

Senior Magistrate, Helen Hardy in a judgment said the claimant counsel was not able to provide enough evidence that the two accused stole the baby.

Senior Magistrate Hardy ruled that the prosecuting counsel was not able to prove any medical report showing that the claimant, Grace Sunday was pregnant and also delivered a baby girl that was stolen by the accused.

Speaking to our reporter, the prosecuting counsel, Moses Oha after narrating the circumstances that brought them to court since 2011, said he and his client will review the judgment and know what next line of action to follow.

Also speaking, the father of the stolen baby, Sunday Ibuo , said that he is not happy and satisfied with the judgment of the court, adding that he will instruct his lawyer to appeal the judgment.

Counsel to the accused declined to speak on the judgment.
