In a bid to maintain the cleanliness of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital and its environs, a special Sanitation Court has been established at the premises of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), located along Mile 4, Ikwerre Road in Port Harcourt.
The Sole Administrator of the Agency, Bro. Felix Obuah while inspecting the project on Tuesday, expressed pleasure that the special Sanitation Court which would be commissioned any moment from now, would checkmate the excesses of sanitation offenders especially those who dump refuse indiscriminately.
According to the RIWAMA boss, anyone who is caught dumping refuse indiscriminately, no matter how highly placed, would be arrested, charged and prosecuted immediately.

He added that all those who dump refuse at places other than the RIWAMA approved receptacles as well as dumping refuse outside of the approved dumping hours of 6 p.m. to 12 midnight, would also be made to appear before the special Sanitation Court.

Bro. Obuah also warned those who dump refuse at the median of major roads and streets to desist from doing so as offenders also risk arrest and prosecution in the Sanitation Court.

While expressing his appreciation to the Chief Judge of the State for graciously approving the establishment of the special Sanitation Court at the premises of RIWAMA, Bro. Obuah assured that the Agency would continue to work assiduously to keep the State clean and restore its Garden City status.

He advised residents and all those doing business in the State to maintain good sanitary habit by always cleaning their surroundings and dumping wastes at RIWAMA approved receptacles; and at approved dumping hours.

Bro. Obuah also urged them to support Governor Nyesom Wike’s vision of a clean and safe environment.
