Elders and opinion leaders in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State have endorsed Governor Nyesom Wike for a second term in office for his developmental strides in the area.

The leaders under the aegis of Oyigbo Elders and Opinion Leaders forum gave this endorsement during a consultative meeting for a peaceful and violent free election in Oyigbo Local Government Area at Umuagbai, Ndoki.

The Convener of the meeting, Ezeala ninth of Umuokobo Clan Ndoki, Sir Nwankwo Nwankwo said the meeting was necessary due to the infrastructural strides of Governor Nyesom Wike in the area.

Sir Nwankwo Nwankwo also commended the Governor for the appointments of their sons and daughters into different positions of Authority in the state and the appointment of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as the Director General of Governor Wike Campaign Organization.

He said that the building of new classroom blocks in Umuagbai Secondary School, Okoloma, Oyigbo, and Egberu shows the governor meant well for the youths of the area.

”The essence of this meeting is to thank the Governor for the appointment of our sons into positions of authority in the state -Hon Alex Ibe and Hon Okey Akara Nwogu as Special Advisers. This is in addition to the appointments such as Mrs. Nancy Chidi Nwankwo as the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and others appointed into State Boards, Parastatals and Agencies”.

”We also want to thank the amiable Governor on the road projects going on in Oyigbo Local Government Area and in particular, the completion of Iriebe-Oyigbo link road which has reduced the traffic congestion along Port Harcourt-
Oyigbo Express road junction” he said.

Sir Nwankwo Nwankwo said Governor Wike deserves a second term having done well in his first tenure.

He also appeals to Oyigbo sons and daughters and the people of Rivers State, in general, to vote en-masse for Governor Wike and all PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

In his speech, the PDP Campaign Coordinator in Oyigbo Local Government Area Hon John Nwachukwu said Governor Nyesom Wike has attracted many projects to the area.

He said that voting Governor Wike will enable the people of Oyigbo to continue to enjoy dividends of democracy under the PDP led administration.
