Former Nigerian international Peterside Idah has tipped the Super Falcons to win the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations AWCON in Ghana.

The Super Falcons will face the Bayana Bayana of South Africa on Saturday in the finals of the competition.

Peterside Idah said the experience of the Super Falcons will give them an added advantage against their opponents in the finals.

According to him, he said the Super Falcons played more difficult side in the tournament, unlike South Africa who played less fancied teams en route to the finals.

The former Super Eagles goalkeeper also called on the Nigeria Football Federation NFF to commence early preparation for the team ahead of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

He said that the Amaju Pinnick let NFF board should not focus only on the Super Eagles but also Super Falcons who have won more laurels than the men’s national team.

Peterside Idah also denied insinuations that Super Falcons are an ageing squad stressing that the team have more young players in their twenties.

He said that young players like Asisat Oshoala and others will still lead the team in the absence of the ageing players.

”A whole lot of things need to be changed, there is a debate whether the team is getting old. The team is not getting old, you have just about four players that are above 30 and women’s football the older you get the better.

“So we have women that are not as old about 30, we have about 60 per cent of them that are within 25 years old. So there is a future in this team”.

”The Preparation, if you don’t prepare you prepare to fail. There is a saying that the Super Falcons belong to the Ministry of Sports and the Super Eagles belong to the NFF. But it shouldn’t be so. We have to put everything in place to ensure they prepare the team very for the 2019 World Cup.” he said.
