No fewer than 25 persons living with disabilities in Rivers State have benefited from INTELS Nigeria Limited scholarship programme.

The beneficiaries went home with the sum of N67,500 each for primary schools category, N150,000 for secondary schools and N216,000 for tertiary institutions respectively.

Speaking on behalf of the company in Port Harcourt, its Principal Learning and Development Supervisor, Mr Peter Lumati said the scholarship awards are aimed at encouraging those living with disabilities in the state to be educated.

He said, “We are here to support the academic pursuit of those living with disabilities through these gestures because we want them to be productive to the society”.

On his part, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike on Physically Challenged Matters, Mr Itekana Altraide commended INTELS for the scholarship awards.

The governor’s SSA advised the scholarship awardees to take their academics seriously adding that education to a large extent will transform them from societal liabilities into solution providers.

His words, “I use this medium to call on parents and guardians to prioritize the academic pursuits of their physically challenged children and wards”

He also urged other companies to emulate INTELS benevolence towards the physically challenged community in the state.

Expressing joy over the gesture, the beneficiaries and their parents thanked INTELS for the scholarship awards and prayed God to reward the company abundantly.

The awardees promised INTELS that they will live up to expectation, saying that the funds would go a long way in enhancing their focus on academic excellence.
