Rivers state police command call on residents for support

The Rivers state police command, on Wednesday, called on residents of the state to assist the police with relevant information that will enable the force to protect lives and properties in the state.

Zarki Ahmed, the state commissioner of police made the call during the 2018 Security Summit and National Executive Council meeting organized by State Police Community Relations Committee in Port Harcourt.

He also urged stakeholders to work in synergy with security agencies to combat criminality in the state.

The event which held at the auditorium of Nigeria Bar Association(NBA) with the theme: MY SECURITY, OUR LIVES had the Lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Abinye Blessing Pepple given “Award of Excellence” by the Police Community Relation Committee.

The committee described the lawmaker as a political role model and representative worthy of emulation due to his astute achievement and remarkable developmental stride in his Constituency of representation.

Pepple was recognized as the Best Lawmaker of the year for the successful construction and completion of the first fire station and Emergency Response Center in Bonny Local Government Area.

Earlier on, National Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC) Dr Faruk Maiyama said the committee is ready to assist security agencies in the fight against criminality in Rivers state.

In the same light, the state chairman of PCRC appealed to all residents of the state to shun all acts of provocation and live peacefully with each other.

Also in attendance were O. C. J. Okocha, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), security operatives, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
