Ogoni Youths Pass Vote Of Confidence On The Management Of HYPREP, Leaders

The project coordinator of HYPREP, Dr Marvin Dekil has expressed gratitude to the people of Ogoni and urged them to ensure that they are involved in the ongoing Clean-Up exercise by having their own companies registered as NGOs and contractors so as to enable them partner with HYPREP during the period of the exercise, as contractors intensify preparation to mobilize to site.

He made this known as HYPREP Nigeria held a ONE DAY CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH YOUTH LEADERS AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN OGONI LAND.

He said that HYPREP is ready to train Ogoni Youths and women in different skills as part of development in the area.

In his speech, Mr Celestine Akpobari while delivering the keynote address, said that the struggles for the actualization of the cleaning up was not an easy task but today its actualization was achieved.

He also maintained that despite the release of funds for the project, we cannot boast of the funds as ours to the extent of acting hostile to the implementation body, contractors and others directly or remotely connected with the implementation of Clean-Up Project.

“It behoves on us to be accommodative and provide the necessary conducive environment,” he said.

In the same vein, the generality of youth organizations in Ogoni land passed a vote of confidence on the management of HYPREP, leaders and others.

The youths stated that the general public should disregard the insinuation from the rumour mongers who are there to tarnish the reputable image of the management of HYPREP by accusing them of misappropriation Of funds.

The Youths also commended president Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Nyesom Wike and IOCs for their support for the cleanup and urged HYPREP to ensure inclusive participation, efficient, transparency and smooth running of the exercise.

Also at the event include All the youth organizations, MOSOP, KAGOTE, Ogoni Professional, Sarowiwa Associate, Politicians, Traditional Rulers and others.
