Riverine Governor: We have waited for 50 years and we will wait no more – Group

A political pressure group, the mobilizers, has said the that the agitation against a governor of Kalabari ethnic nationality will be resisted by the Kalabari people.

President of the group, Gloria Boma Harry, on Wednesday, stated that those who are against the candidacy of billionaire oil mogul, Tonye Cole are doing so out of hatred as there is no going back on the decision to enthrone a Kalabari governor come 2019.

According to her, “It is very worrisome that most of our respected kalabari leaders can’t see beyond their greed. Each time something good is about happening to us, these leaders or cabal surface with all manner of assertions.

“When will the kalabaris learn from other ethnic groups that it is wrong for anyone to fight his kinsman?

“The so-called Ijaw activists came up with the theory of voting for our brother because he is an Ijaw son and they turned a blind eye to the candidature of another Ijaw son, Dakuku Peterside in 2015. They voted instead for an Ikwerre man.

“Now we are fortunate to have an Ijaw son once again, who might most likely govern the state if God permits, but alas! The drums of war have begun its ugly beat.

“This time their hatred for Chibuike Amaechi, will not allow them to see beyond themselves.

“The younger generation of Kalabari men and women will resist this attempt by some disgruntled elders to deny us this opportunity.

“We have waited for 50 years and we will wait no longer. Our support is for Tonye Cole and we remain ever grateful to the leader of APC south South, Chibuike Amaechi and other stakeholders for this privilege”.
