IGP monitoring team arrest 12 suspects in Ikwerre LGA

Officers of the IGP monitoring team have busted criminal sanctuaries in Rivers State and captured not less than 12 suspects terrorising parts of the state.

The IGP team raided a hideout where an armed robbery gang operates from in Aluu Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area, LGA, of the state and arrested seven suspects.

Police Intelligence Unit also arrested five armed robbery suspects following an attack on the property of the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority in Isiokpo in Ikwerre LGA of the state.

Parading the suspects yesterday, in Port Harcourt, leader of the IGP monitoring team, Mr Benneth Igwe, said the team busted the gang through intelligence gathering.

He noted that the brigands had engaged the Police in an exchange of gunfight but noted, however, that the Police overwhelmed the criminals and arrested them.

Igwe said that one Pump Action and a locally made gun were recovered from the criminals.
