Police smash 3-man armed bandit in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police command has announced the smashing of a 3-man armed robbery gang by the Mini-Okoro Police Division.

The Police Public relations officer, Nnamdi Omoni, made this known during a press briefing, saying the three-man bandit has confessed to the crime of snatching cars and kidnapping in Rivers State.

“Men of the Mini-Okoro Police Division led by the DPO, CSP Ekaete Archibong, smashed a gang of armed robbers later identified as Ibrahim Usman. He is from Bauchi State, Mohammed Adamu from Niger State, Victor James from Emohua in Rivers State, and then one Barnabas wahala who is from Bauchi State, but they’re all resident of Rivers State.

“On interrogation, they made useful confessions which led to the recovery of three vehicles. One Toyota Land cruiser Jeep with registration number AH369DEG, and then Toyota Camry pencil light, with registration number YAB143.

The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command said that as part of the modus operandi of the three-man gang, they kill their victims after collecting the ransom for their Kidnap.

“The covered Lexus Jeep is said to belong to late Patrick Rotimi, who was robbed and shot by this gang on the 10th of July 2018 at location road Elekahia. He later died on his way to the hospital.
They also collected the sum of one million Naira from him, before he was shot.

“The robbers who are based in the state, are responsible for several car snatching operations in the state.

“They are still helping us in our investigation and will be due in court as soon as the investigation is completed.

“We have sworn to deal with all the criminal elements in the state, and at the appropriate time we shall fish them out. They will need to face the wrath of the law”.
