Rivers APC Rescheduled Congresses: We Will Not Participate – Abe’s Faction Says

Following the announcement of the cancellation of the Ward and Local Government Congresses in Rivers State by the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Senator Magnus Abe’s faction of the party, has maintained that it will not participate in the rescheduled Ward and LGA Congresses.

In a statement signed by Hon. City Nwanyawu, the faction said that it will not partake in the rescheduled congresses due to an existing court order which is yet to be heard.

Recall that the faction had approached the Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, specifically on May 11, and obtained an interlocutory order stopping the Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi’s faction of the party from conducting the local government congress, an order the Amaechi’s faction disobeyed.

This also led to the invasion of the High Court premises by thugs said to be members of the APC loyal to the minister of Transportation and leader of the party in the state, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.

TPCN also gathered that the Senator Abe’s faction has directed loyalists to be law abiding citizens by obeying the existing court order.

TPCN’s request for a comments by the state’s publicity secretary of the party, Chris Finebone, was not successful as he declined to comment on the matter.
