LA County DA Declines to Prosecute Sean Combs Despite Assault Footage

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that it will not prosecute rapper and music executive Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, despite the recent emergence of video footage allegedly showing him assaulting his former signee and estranged girlfriend, Cassie, in a Los Angeles hotel hallway.

In a statement, the DA’s office explained that “if the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately, we would be unable to charge as the conduct occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.”

The office further noted that law enforcement has not presented any case related to the incident shown in the video against Diddy.

However, the LA Attorney’s office encouraged victims and witnesses to report incidents to law enforcement or seek support from the Bureau of Victims Services.

The footage, obtained by CNN, reportedly shows Diddy repeatedly kicking and throwing objects at Cassie in 2016.

The release of this video comes amid a series of sexual assault charges against Diddy, adding to the controversy surrounding the music mogul.

The DA’s decision underscores the limitations of prosecuting older cases, even with visual evidence, due to statutory time constraints.
