Super Eagles Striker Chooses Man United as His Next Destination

Reportedly, Victor Osimhen, the striker from Napoli, has identified Manchester United as his preferred club for a potential transfer. Regarded as one of the most formidable centre-forwards in Europe, the Nigerian has even been praised by some as the best striker in the world. However, the 26-year-old finds himself in a challenging situation this summer.

From 2020 to 2024, Osimhen established himself as Napoli’s key player, but his relationship with the club’s management soured during the difficult 2023/24 season, leading to his inclusion on the transfer list last summer.

The former Lille player aspired to join a prestigious club such as Chelsea or PSG, but ultimately had to accept a loan move to Galatasaray.

During his time with the Istanbul-based team, Osimhen helped them secure another Turkish championship, netting 37 goals in all competitions. Although Galatasaray is eager to retain him beyond his current loan, this may prove challenging, particularly as the player is looking to join a more ambitious club.

The Nigerian international also had the chance to sign with Al-Hilal, who offered him a lucrative salary, but he declined the offer in favour of remaining in Europe.

Reports indicate that Osimhen has made a decision, selecting Manchester United as his next destination. The Napoli star is reportedly eager to move to Old Trafford and lead the club’s efforts towards recovery.

Manchester United has been linked with Osimhen several times, yet they have not yet made a formal approach. Nonetheless, this would be an opportune moment for the Premier League club to act, as Osimhen’s contract with Napoli contains a £64.5 million release clause that will expire on July 15.

However, negotiating personal terms with the player’s representatives may prove difficult, given that he is currently on a €10 million per year contract, while INEOS has been diligently working to reduce the wage bill.
