NFF Approves Tenure Extension for NPFL, NNL and NLO Boards to Sept 2026

The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has decided to prolong the terms of the existing boards of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) until September 29, 2026.

As stated by the NFF, this extension is aligned with the duration of the current NFF administration led by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), which is set to conclude on September 29, 2026, following its commencement on September 30, 2022.

The boards, which are chaired by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye (NPFL), Chief George Aluo (NNL), and HE Silas Ali Agara (NLO), were originally appointed on July 1, 2023, for a two-year period that was scheduled to end on June 30, 2025.

The NFF acknowledged their contributions over the last two years and urged them to enhance the quality and appeal of the leagues.

“The NFF Executive Committee recognized the efforts of each of the three boards during the past two years and urged them to dedicate even greater efforts towards delivering leagues that are better packaged and more appealing, which will be a source of pride for football managers and stakeholders both nationally and across the continent, while committing to ongoing reflection and innovation for the benefit of the sport,” stated the NFF Media department.

Nevertheless, the decision concerning the board of the Nigeria Women’s Football League, led by Ms. Nkechi Nneka Obi, has been postponed to a future date.
