‎Mayor of Port Harcourt Appoints 1217 Persons into Various Committees

In a move to strengthen grassroots governance and enhance service delivery across key sectors, the Administrator and Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Dr. Samuel Kalagbor, has reconstituted and appointed 1217 persons into various strategic committees within the Local Government Area.

‎In a statement released by the Mayor’s office, the appointments took effect from Friday, 20th June, 2025 and cover a wide array of essential service points and administrative zones, with a focus on market management, sanitation, revenue generation and urban renewal.

According to the statement, Dr. Kalagbor while admonishing the newly reconstituted committees to function with integrity, diligence, and commitment to public service, urged all appointees to approach their responsibilities with a sense of duty and patriotism, even as the administration continues to implement policies aimed at maintaining order, boosting local revenue, and promoting environmental and market hygiene across the city.

‎The statement added that the full list of committee members and their respective assignments have been posted on the official notice boards at the Port Harcourt City Local Government Secretariat for public awareness and transparency.

‎The reconstituted committees include:

‎1. Ticketing Unit Nkpolu-Oroworukwo Park

‎2. Fruit and Vegetable  Market.

‎3. Afikpo Market.

‎4. Rumuwoji (Mile 1) Market.

‎5. Revenue Payment Verification

‎6. Nkpolu-Oroworukwo (Mile 3) Park.

‎7. Nkpolu-Oroworukwo (Mile 3) Market Revenue

‎8. Abali Park

‎9. Abali Park Toilet Committee

‎10. Railway/Flyover

‎11. Bayelsa Park

‎12. Sangana Market Committee

‎13. Cemetery

‎14. Tricycle/ Buses Daily Ticket (Ward 20)

‎15.  Sanitation Committee

‎16. Elekahia Mechanic

‎17. Block Moulding/Vulcanizers

‎18. Flood Management

‎19. Electronic/Social Media
