Police Arraign Eze Victor for Alleged Impersonation, Breach of Peace

The Rivers State Police Command has arraigned Eze Victor Prince Worluchem before a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt on multiple charges, including impersonation and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, among other related offences. The defendant was brought before the court following allegations by the Port Harcourt Council of Chiefs that he falsely presented himself as the traditional ruler of Port Harcourt at various locations and events.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges during his appearance before Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs. Counsel to the defendant, U.G. Wokocha, requested that his client be granted bail on self-recognition. In his ruling Senior Magistrate, Kingsley Briggs refused granting bail on self recognition instead granted bail in the sum of five hundred thousand naira, (₦500,000) with two sureties.

According to the ruling, the sureties must be: Blood relatives of the defendant, recognized members of society with a verifiable and stable source of livelihood, and above 55 years. The Senior Magistrate further adjourned the matter to the 21st of July 2025 for continuation of hearing.

Speaking to journalists outside the courtroom, Lawrence Ufomba, counsel representing the complainants the Port Harcourt Council of Chiefs outlined the court proceedings and emphasized the seriousness of the charges. Meanwhile, the defendant’s counsel, U.G. Wokocha, declined to comment when approached by journalists.
