Brazil Urges Manchester United to Sign Victor Osimhen

According to a recent report, it has been stated that former Manchester United striker Alan Brazil has urged the club to take prompt action and secure Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen after their primary summer target, Viktor Gyokeres, seemingly declined a transfer to Old Trafford.

United had pinpointed Gyokeres as their main striker target following his remarkable season with Sporting CP. The 26-year-old Swede scored 39 goals in the league, the highest number in Portugal in the last forty years, and a total of 54 goals across all competitions. His scoring prowess led Sporting to victory in the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe’s most desirable forwards.

However, reports indicate that Gyokeres favor a move to Arsenal, leaving United in search of alternatives. Brazil contends that the Red Devils should redirect their focus to Victor Osimhen, who regained his form during a fruitful loan period at Galatasaray last season, netting 37 goals in 41 matches and providing 7 assists.

Despite losing favor at Napoli, where he played a crucial role in securing the 2022/23 Serie A title with 26 goals, the 26-year-old remains in high demand. Speaking on talkSPORT, Brazil remarked: “At one point Osimhen was exceptional at Napoli, wasn’t he? Perhaps he requires a transfer to reignite his passion and begin scoring goals once more.

He is capable of heading the ball. Why not? Why wouldn’t you seize the opportunity? 26 is still young.” United’s requirement for a dependable striker has become more pressing following a disappointing season that concluded with them in 15th place in the Premier League.

Rasmus Hojlund, their marquee acquisition last summer, managed only a few goals, exacerbating the club’s lack of offensive strength. Osimhen, Nigeria’s second all-time leading scorer, has previously turned down lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia to remain in Europe. He has also been associated with Juventus, PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Real Madrid.

Despite the Turkish Super Lig being less competitive than the Premier League, Osimhen’s past success in Serie A and Ligue 1 shows he can adapt and thrive in top European leagues. United boss Ruben Amorim must now weigh whether to pursue Osimhen or pivot to Eintracht Frankfurt’s 22-year-old forward Hugo Ekitike as plan B.
