Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Commends Gov Abiodun on Monetary Gifts to Super Falcons

The Nigeria Football Federation has expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Adedapo Abiodun of Ogun State. For generously awarding monetary gifts to the players and officials of the senior women’s national teams of Nigeria and Cameroon following their international friendly match held in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, on Tuesday.

In this encounter, Nigeria, the nine-time African champions, triumphed over the Lionesses, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade scoring two goals. The first from the penalty spot in the 28th minute and the second in added time of the first half. Following a well-coordinated team play that saw Rinsola Babajide assist her esteemed captain in the opponent’s eighteen-yard box.

Post-match, a pleased Governor Abiodun rewarded the Super Falcons with a total of N20 million, while the visiting team received N10 million.

Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the General Secretary of the NFF, commended the Governor for his generous act. Stating that such incentives serve as encouragements that motivate athletes across various sports to excel and improve their performances in future competitions.

“The NFF extends its heartfelt thanks to His Excellency, Governor Abiodun, for the financial gifts to both the Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lionesses. This act of kindness and generosity will be remembered fondly.

“The financial reward has been positively received by the team, and I believe it provides an additional psychological boost. Complementing their victory over the Cameroonians in the match. The NFF is committed to ensuring that the players and their officials have a conducive environment for their pre-WAFCON final camping program.”

Nigeria is set to compete in Group B of the 12-team Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco. Scheduled from July 5th to 26th, alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria. The Super Falcons will play all their matches in Casablanca. Commencing with the Tunisians on July 6th, followed by Botswana on July 10th, and Algeria on July 13th.
