In a bid to support young entrepreneurs and small businesses, the administrator of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Kingsley N. Banigo, has launched a N100 million youth empowerment programme.
Banigo announced the launch when he hosted the Central Executive Council of the Bonny Youth Federation BYF, led by its leader, Mr. Anthony Banigo, at the council secretariat.
The Administrator revealed that the empowerment would cut across the Bonny LGA, including the 35 chieftaincy houses in Bonny Kingdom.
According to him, “the initiative will provide a grant of N1 million naira to qualified young business owners from each Chieftaincy House. The Bonny Youth Federation will coordinate the distribution of application forms and make recommendations.”

The Bonny LGA administrator strongly emphasised transparency and merit. “Only young entrepreneurs with verifiable businesses will be considered for the grants.”

In his remark, BYF Leader Mr. Anthony Banigo congratulated the administrator on his appointment by the State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), and commended his efforts in what he described as maintaining a clean and organized Bonny LGA.
“We are here to appreciate you for all the work you have done since assuming office, especially your commitment to keeping Bonny clean.”
He lauded the Youth Empowerment Programme as a significant achievement of the current administration and appealed for support in logistics and welfare for the federation.
“We will continue to support your administration. As a non-partisan body, you can count on us to be available whenever called upon.”
In response, the administrator pledged to provide a utility vehicle for the Bonny Youth Federation and announced a welfare package of N1 million to support the federation’s operations.
