Trans-Kalabari Road Nears Completion, Set to Drive Economic GrowthIbas Assures Rivers People

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd.), has reaffirmed the significance of the Trans-Kalabari Road project, describing it as a critical step towards addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by riverine communities.

During an inspection tour of the ongoing construction in Rumuolumeni and the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Rumuokwurushi, both in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, on Monday, Ibas emphasized the need for the timely completion of these projects, noting their potential to enhance the economic standing of Rivers State and Nigeria at large.

“We are very much aware of the difficult terrain and the communication challenges between communities. This project, when completed, will significantly boost the socio-economic life of the state and the nation as a whole,” he stated.

Calling for strict adherence to the project timeline, the administrator urged contractors to expedite their work, highlighting that the state government had fulfilled its financial commitments. “We are counting on them to keep to the completion time,” he added.

Beyond the Trans-Kalabari Road, Ibas also inspected the Civil Servants’ Quarters designated for Permanent Secretaries, where he acknowledged the housing challenges faced by civil servants. He stressed the importance of providing comfortable housing to enhance productivity in the workplace.

“I have civil servants who have challenges with their accommodation. We have been out there to see how far the project is going, and I was assured that the accommodation will be delivered on time so those who require them can settle down to do their work,” he said.

Reiterating his commitment to fostering a peaceful and prosperous Rivers State, Ibas assured that the people would be the greatest beneficiaries of these developmental efforts.
