Uzugbani Ekpeye Refutes Allegations Against Edison Ehie

The Uzugbani Ekpeye, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality, has strongly refuted allegations made by former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, linking Chief of Staff Edison Ehie to the burning of the Assembly building.

In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Uzugbani Ekpeye Worldwide, Comrade Ogboka Chris Umeda stated that the matter has already been decided in court, with Edison Ehie exonerated of all accusations. The organization described any attempt to revive the allegations as a politically motivated witch hunt.

Uzugbani Ekpeye also condemned what it termed the “unconstitutional removal” of Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly for six months under the guise of a state of emergency declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, the group expressed support for efforts aimed at restoring peace and order in the state.

The organization issued a stern warning, stating that the Ekpeye people would no longer tolerate any attempts to tarnish the reputation of their prominent sons and daughters, especially after being cleared by a competent court.

Uzugbani Ekpeye urged all Ekpeye indigenes to remain calm in the face of provocation. The group reaffirmed its unwavering support for Edison Ehie and assured him of the solidarity of the Ekpeye people in his political journey.
