Nigerian Army Commissions New Transit Accommodation for Officers in Port Harcourt

In a move to enhance the welfare of its personnel, the Nigerian Army has constructed a new transit accommodation for officers of the 29 Battalion in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Commissioning the six-flat building, the Guest of Honour and General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, praised the initiative, describing it as a step in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy aimed at consolidating the transformation of the Nigerian Army.

Major General Emekah reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the 29 Battalion in executing more impactful projects, urging the beneficiaries to maintain the facility properly for long-term use.

Earlier, the Commanding Officer of the 29 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Irinam Joseph-Otogo, expressed deep appreciation to his predecessor, Colonel I.A. Manga, as well as both the immediate past and present GOCs, for their contributions toward making the project a reality. He noted that the new accommodation would significantly reduce the housing challenges faced by officers in the battalion.

The initiative reflects the Army’s ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions of its personnel, ensuring they have a conducive environment to carry out their duties effectively.
