Obio/Akpor Chairman Unveils Key Development Initiatives in First 100 Days

As part of activities marking his first 100 days in office, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, has announced several development projects aimed at improving education, security, and infrastructure in the region.

Speaking at the council secretariat, Ambassador Ihunwo revealed plans to commence the construction of the Obio/Akpor Council Lodge, initiate bursary payments for vulnerable students, and release funds to support 100 students currently pursuing Master’s and PhD programs in universities. He emphasized that these efforts align with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s vision of human capital development and equitable growth in the local government area.

In a move to enhance security, the Chairman disclosed that a newly formed security outfit, properly profiled and registered with a distinct uniform, has been established to improve safety within the LGA. Additionally, UBE teachers in the area will undergo specialized training to enhance their skills and teaching methods.

Ambassador Ihunwo further announced the procurement of transformers for communities that had applied for assistance, ensuring improved electricity supply. He also disclosed that 590 JAMB forms have been purchased for students seeking admission into tertiary institutions, with plans to distribute them across various wards within the local government area.
