Robbers raid Uniport hostel

Armed robbers, on Monday night, raided one of the off-campus students’ hostels in the Alakahia area of Choba, carting away properties and an undisclosed sum of money.

The robbers, numbering about 6, invaded the hostel at about 8:30 in the night and left one person critically wounded and properties worth thousands destroyed with items including phones, laptops, and television stolen.

Although the robbery was not fully successful as a Police team from the IGP Monitoring Team, Choba Police Command intervened leading to the arrest of one of criminals, the attack was said to have left some of the students in shock.

A spokesperson for the Choba Police Command told TPCN that the arrested member of the gang was their driver who had parked his vehicle close to the robbery spot for instant evacuation of the criminals.

The Police also told TPCN that the suspect is cooperating with investigation and has named others who are still at large.

He said that police will charge him to court after due investigation.
