Sound Health, Key to Boosting Nigeria’s Crude Oil Production – Solewant Group CEO

Sir Solomon Ewanehi, the Group Managing Director of Solewant Group, has highlighted the critical role of health in achieving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to increase Nigeria’s crude oil production. Speaking during the opening ceremony of a golf tournament organized as part of the company’s 8th Energy Summit in Rivers State, Ewanehi emphasized that maintaining good health among oil and gas practitioners is essential for professionalism and productivity.

Health and Productivity
Ewanehi noted that sound health enhances decision-making and overall service delivery. “Well-being gives you the right thinking. If you are not sound health-wise, you cannot think professionally,” he stated. The tournament, he explained, underscores the company’s commitment to promoting health and fitness among its workforce to meet industry demands.

“As a manufacturing company, we see physical activity as a key success factor. It helps us manage time effectively and deliver quality products and services to satisfy our clients,” Ewanehi said. He also stressed that Solewant, as a strong member of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), is determined to support the President’s directive to ramp up crude oil production volumes.

Fostering Fitness Through Golf
The golf competition, part of the summit’s activities, drew commendation from Charlton De Landro, the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to Nigeria, who lauded Solewant Group for its initiative. “Golf is a sport that needs to be encouraged across Nigeria. It promotes fitness and health,” he remarked.

Engaging Youth Through Sports
Tunde Jackson, a sports consultant for Solewant, pointed out the broader benefits of such initiatives, including youth engagement. He advocated for building more golf courses in the Niger Delta as a strategy to reduce youth restiveness. “Golf positively engages young people, taking them off the streets and giving them exposure to an elitist game,” Jackson explained, citing the role of golf bag carriers, often young locals, as an example of the sport’s potential impact.

The event underscores the intersection of health, sports, and productivity in driving Nigeria’s energy sector goals, reflecting Solewant Group’s commitment to fostering both individual well-being and national development.
