Regina Gilead Foundation For the Elderly (RGFE) holds monthly free healthcare services at the Port Harcourt Home for the Elderly

A Non Governmental organization based in Port Harcourt, the Regina Gilead Foundation For the Elderly, today Saturday, May 19th, 2018, held it’s monthly free medical services at the Port Harcourt Home for the Elderly, located at No 33 Harbour Road, Port Harcourt Town.

The foundation which concerns itself with taking care of Elderly people in the society, said Elderly people deserve all the attention as most of them have been abandoned by their children and relatives.

Speaking to Theportcitynews.com correspondent John Diidi, the Founder of RGFE, Helen Ebiware, said the monthly free medical service will be held twice a month as a result of pleas by the management of the home that the home lacks medical services.

“I have spoken to the authorities of the home and they complained about the lack of medical care at the home. So from now on, we’ve decided to bring in our Doctor and caregivers twice every month to administer drugs, offer massages and attend to the medical Welfare of the Elderly”.

She also went further to advocate for proper medical Welfare of Elderly people, saying that other NGO’s, companies and individuals just come and dump food for the Elderly people without taking into consideration the medical needs of those special class of people, who she said need different types of surgery in millions of naira to improve their standard of living.

The highlight of the event saw dispensing of drugs, massages and cleaning of the home by caregivers of the foundation.
